Dear [employer]:
I am very proud of our company’s commitment to charitable
causes and philanthropic aims in our community. I would like to
suggest that, when our company decides which organizations deserve
our support, we consider health charities that have the Humane Charity
Seal of Approval.
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, UNICEF, Birth Defect Research for
Children, and many other very worthy health charities have the Humane
Seal while, unfortunately, some others do not.
The Humane Seal designates health charities committed to patient
services, health education and disease prevention, and vital research
without the use of animals. Whether or not a health charity supports
animal research instead of more effective and safer alternatives
is a top issue for many donors, including myself. Choosing health
charities with the Humane Seal assures that our company’s
donation will go directly to helping people, without harming animals.
I’m sure that many of our employees would agree that this
is a good idea.
Many companies are beginning to put more thought into the use of
their charitable donations, taking into consideration their employees’
concerns surrounding support of animal experiments by health charities.
Some corporations have also adopted new policies restricting donations
to certain health charities for non-animal testing purposes only.
Clearly, many sponsors are realizing the importance of focusing
on research and programs that are most effective and relevant to
advancing human health, rather than animal experiments. I hope that
our company will follow this lead, by choosing health charities
that have been certified with the Humane Charity Seal of Approval.
I have enclosed a brochure with details about the Humane Seal program,
and the full list of approved charities is available online at www.HumaneSeal.org.
I would be happy to serve on a committee to help review and select
health charities to benefit from our company’s future generosity.
Thank you for your attention to this very important issue.
Sincerely,
