Stand Up for a Cure is a nonprofit organization that was originally founded to raise awareness and funding for lung cancer research, treatment, and education. With a new case of lung cancer diagnosed approximately every three minutes and a grim five-year survival rate of only 14 percent, there is a profound need for an urgent response.
Based on partnerships with other nonprofits and organizations, Stand Up for a Cure has since expanded its reach to other areas of oncology and allied disease, as well as social issues including health policy. The relationships it has developed with some of the finest medical institutions, research institutes, and government agencies allows Stand Up for a Cure to direct support and funding to programs that demonstrate the most evidence-based hope for progress.
Stand Up for A Cure’s all-volunteer staff includes some of the most well trained and highly regarded physicians, nurses, social workers, attorneys, physical therapists, and integrative medicine practitioners. Through their community outreach program, they are able to bring expertise and support—such as mobile medical units—to those in need.
Stand Up for a Cure is dedicated to heightening public awareness about the challenges of living with cancer while providing a message of hope and commitment. This consciousness-raising endeavor incorporates patients, survivors, celebrity members, and leaders in the entertainment industry in the production of acclaimed, highly original concerts with world class performers in intimate, elegant venues.
