Since awarding its first grant in 1994, the Cancer Treatment Research
Foundation has supported some of the most gifted researchers in
conventional, integrative, and complementary medicine. The mission
of this Illinois-based foundation is to eliminate cancer by funding
innovative, patient-driven clinical research that moves research
from the laboratory to the patients who urgently need it.
Since 1995, the foundation has committed over $15 million to researchers
around the world. It actively monitors the progress of funded researchers
to ensure real progress in studies by measuring the positive impacts
on patients. Projects funded include studies on all types of cancer,
patient quality of life, novel immunology treatments, and integrative
medicine therapies. Significant advances have been made by CTRF-funded
researchers in vaccine therapies for lung cancer and Multiple Myeloma
and in treating chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, a painful nerve
toxicity that can result from some types of chemotherapy.
And it does all this without ever using animals. “It is
important for CTRF to have the Humane Charity Seal of Approval," says
Fern Ingber, CTRF's president. "The research we approve across
the world is well past the test-tube stage and has never included
animal testing. Instead, we fund clinical research that is integrative,
patient-centered, and has the highest likelihood of having immediate
patient impact."

or literature. Please consider showing your support by writing a
letter of thanks or giving a donation, and be sure to tell your
